Help tackle homelessness in Sandwell
10th September 2021In one month it will be World Homeless Day – a time to draw attention to people who experience homelessness and for the community to get involved in responding to their needs. As winter approaches, now is the time to reach out and put the support in place that will help rough through the coldest time of the year.
One way to do this is by supporting Change Into Action, a campaign run locally by Sandwell Council in conjunction with the West Midlands Combined Authority. The initiative, which was launched in March, offers practical support for rough sleepers, helping to tackle the underlying causes of their homelessness.
Donations are distributed across local charitable organisations to support projects and services that work to prevent rough sleeping. Every donation goes towards providing help to vulnerable people, helping deliver tailored services that address the specific needs of the individual.
Sandwell Council is committed to helping homeless people off the streets, and businesses can get involved by raising awareness and encouraging staff to donate to Change Into Action. World Homeless Day on Sunday 10 October could also provide a focus for team fundraising events.
By working together, we can all play a part in helping every vulnerable person across the borough have a roof over their heads and the support they need to lead a safe and healthy life.
