50forWM50: Nominate inspirational volunteers

The West Midlands is 50 this year and West Midlands Lieutenancy is marking the anniversary with a ’50forWM50′ campaign. It is asking people to nominate inspirational volunteers from across the region to join a celebration in June.

Each of the seven local authorities in the West Midlands – Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton – will celebrate 50 community champions. The selected 350 volunteers will get to join a ‘Big Thank You Bash’ celebration event in June.

Celebrating the impact of volunteers

Judges will then narrow down the selection to 50 people, and award just one volunteer the ultimate recognition for their outstanding contribution to the region: a tram named in their honour.

The West Midlands Lieutenancy wants to celebrate the huge role volunteers have played in the life of the region, and the impact they have made over the last 50 years. United by 2022, the official charity of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, is supporting the campaign.

Anybody can be nominated for 50forWM50

Nominated volunteers can be of any age or background. There is no requirement on how long they have been volunteering. The only criteria is that they have helped the community in the West Midlands.

To nominate, you will need to say who you are nominating, what volunteer work they do, and what positive impact they have had in their community. The judging panel is excited to read all the stories of people making a difference in the region.

Recognising Sandwell superstars

Sandwell Business Ambassadors would love to see some inspiring volunteers from our borough make the shortlist. There’s certainly no shortage of people to nominate. This is a great opportunity to shout about the people you know who benefit others.
