Have your say on walking, wheeling and cycling
12th August 2024Black Country Transport wants to hear what you have to say about walking, wheeling and cycling in the region.
It has launched a consultation to gather the views of people across Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton. The feedback will help shape active travel schemes, which aim to make getting about on foot or by bike, wheelchair or mobility scooter a more attractive choice.
Working towards a net zero transport network
The overall aims are to improve activity and health, save people money, cut traffic congestion and reduce carbon emissions. The ultimate goal is to create a net zero transport network in the Black Country by 2041.
Councillor Keith Allcock, cabinet member for highways and environment at Sandwell Council, said: “We want to hear the views of people in Sandwell on our plans to develop an active travel network to better connect the Black Country through walking, cycling and wheeling, providing people with wider travel choices.
Help shape the future of active travel
We are looking to develop the local travel networks to enable easier travel across the region using different modes of transport that could help reduce air pollution and improve health and wellbeing. We want people to help shape the future of active travel in the Black Country and I encourage everyone to take part in the consultation.”
The consultation is open to anyone who lives or works in the Black Country and closes on Monday 30 September. To have your say, follow the link.
