Sleep Out to support homeless people

The Albion Foundation has announced a Sleep Out, to raise awareness of homeless and vulnerable people within the local community, and to raise funds to combat rough sleeping.

It’s a great opportunity to nurture team camaraderie and take on a challenge for a good cause.

The Sleep Out will take place on Friday 29 April, from 6pm through to 10am the following day. Participants will spend the night in the stands and concourse of the Hawthorns, West Bromwich Albion Football Club’s stadium.

Karl Robinson from Sandwell Council said: “We do not want anyone to have to sleep rough in Sandwell and have a team that will respond to any reports of people sleeping rough within the same day. We will always offer emergency accommodation for the same night and will work with the individual to come up with a plan to meet their needs. This includes working with them around income, mental health, physical health, and substance misuse issues. The Sleep Out is a great opportunity for us to raise awareness within the community and help ensure no one is sleeping rough.”

It costs £20 per person to register for the Sleep Out, and participants are required to raise a minimum of £100 each in sponsorship and donations. The Albion Foundation team will provide evening entertainment and hot drinks throughout the night, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag, sleeping mat and snacks. To find out more, and to book your place, visit the website. You can also donate directly on the JustGiving page.
