“I am keen to ignite any spark that may be dimmed right now”: Jan Denning to speak at major student conference

Sandwell Business Ambassador Jan Denning is speaking at the national travel and tourism student conference ITT Future You next week – flying the flag for tourism and hospitality opportunities in our region, while hoping to inspire a cohort of students whose dreams may be on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Run by the Institute of Travel & Tourism, ITT Future You is held at World Travel Market as well as touring universities around the UK. It supports students with training, knowledge, ideas, and inspiration for their future careers within the travel and tourism sector.

Over 20,000 students have attended ITT Future You events in the UK, and even more globally.

When ITT Future You reaches the Black Country on Monday (29 March), hosted virtually by the University of Wolverhampton, Jan will be representing her organisations The Hospitality Partnership and Destination Wolverhampton & The Black Country.

This is the second year Jan has been invited to speak. She joins representatives from other national organisations telling their stories of experiences and opportunities in this vast and valuable sector.

Jan said she is thrilled to be taking part.

“It has been such a tough year for students studying to make a career within the vast hospitality industry that has been so hard hit by the pandemic,” she said. “Simply by sharing experiences and advice, we can make a massive difference. For me, I am keen to ignite any spark that may be dimmed right now, share opportunities a student may want to pursue; excite them and assure people of what an incredible industry travel, tourism and hospitality is; that there is a very bright light shining now”.

Jan added: “It is important for our region to recognise the value of travel and tourism and – this year more than ever – know there will be many opportunities to grow our visitor economy with the demand for not only staycations but family and friends’ days out, meals together and celebrations.”

Good luck to our Sandwell Business Ambassador Jan at ITT Future You! Thank you, Jan, for representing this very important sector for the Black Country.
