Have you got Insite?
3rd December 2020Insite is a free digital magazine from Sandwell Council, sharing information on regeneration and growth activity in our borough.
One of the main purposes of the magazine is to keep readers updated on major Sandwell construction projects. The first edition outlined refurbishment proposals for Darley House in Oldbury, restoration plans for Smethwick Council House, the start of demolition work in West Bromwich and construction work in Rowley Regis, as well as the completion of an improvement scheme in Carters Green. It outlined repair plans for Oldbury viaduct, the largest concrete repair project, by value, ever carried out in Britain.
The second edition is now available, giving updates on demolition work in West Bromwich, the Birchley Island improvement scheme and a construction project in Rowley Regis, plus news on the flagship Sandwell Aquatics Centre and Moor Lane Extra Care Home in Rowley Regis.
Insite also explains technological innovations that will enhance business in the region. The first edition introduced new digital services PayByPhone and Street Manager, as well as the new WM5G organisation set up to accelerate the benefits of 5G technology. The latest magazine takes a look at Sandwell Council’s online Planning Portal.
Another key aim of the magazine is to celebrate good news. The first edition shared that Sandwell Council was awarded maximum points by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority, retained a National Customer Service Excellent Standard for the sixth year running. It revealed that three Sandwell town centres will each be receiving a share of the £3.6bn Towns Fund for town centre regeneration (something the Sandwell Business Ambassadors are involved with).
The second edition details how these Towns Fund awards for West Bromwich, Smethwick and Rowley Regis could boost the Sandwell economy by up to £75m. It shows how Sandwell Council’s business platform Think Sandwell has been supporting businesses during the ongoing pandemic.
