Free building control trainee scheme
30th August 2022LABC is currently recruiting trainees for a new three-year, fully funded learning and development programme, aimed at bringing more people into the building control profession.
LABC (Local Authority Building Control) is the membership organisation that works on behalf of local authorities, providing the voice of public service building control to government departments and industry. It has over 3,700 members across England and Wales.
Trainees on the new scheme will earn while they learn, working in a local authority near where they live. The programme leads to a level 5 diploma in Building Control Surveying, and includes mentoring by experienced professionals, as well as hands on experience.
If you’re technically minded, like problem solving and can work under pressure, then this is a great opportunity to kick start a public service career. There are also clear progression routes onto further level 6 programmes, and to becoming a fully qualified chartered surveyor or building engineer.
LABC Chief Executive Lorna Stimpson said, “Building control professionals play an important part in addressing the UK’s response to the energy and climate crisis. This is a pivotal time for the building control profession; this recruitment programme will bring in vital new recruits to strengthen the profession and make a real contribution to the communities where we live.”
