Are you ready for Brexit?

As 31 October approaches you may keep seeing the ‘Get Ready for Brexit’ campaign, launched by the government across TV, radio, social media and billboards.

Sandwell Business Ambassadors are encouraging local businesses to prepare for Brexit by completing an online checklist which will help to support both businesses and residents.

This campaign includes an online checker tool available on the GOV.UK website, which we are recommending that everyone – businesses and residents – completes. This five-minute survey has been developed so that people and businesses can identify what they need to do to get ready for Brexit. It includes simple-to-follow videos and step-by-step guides, making it easy for individuals and organisations to take action.

Sandwell Business Ambassadors’ chair Alan Taylor is concerned that many people and companies are underprepared. “Research shows that 42 per cent of SMEs are unsure of how they can get ready for Brexit,” he said, “and just 31 per cent of the British public have looked for information on how to prepare. This is why raising awareness locally is so important.”

He added: “Relationships with EU countries are crucial to many Sandwell and Black Country businesses. We’ll therefore be doing all we can to ensure that companies in Sandwell aren’t hit by any unexpected surprises when the UK leaves the EU.”
