Jessica Lewis
Assistant Director of External Engagement & Skills at Sandwell College
“I am delighted to engage with businesses across the region and to let them know what we can do to support them”.
Jessica is Assistant Director of External Engagement & Skills at Sandwell College – the largest provider of study programmes in the West Midlands for learners aged sixteen to nineteen.
Jessica’s role means she works with many different organisations (including schools, employers, Sandwell Council, and the Black Country Chamber of Commerce) to raise the profile of Sandwell College. She leads the college’s #Pledge2Invest campaign, encouraging local businesses to invest in a strong, skilled, growing workforce through training and apprenticeships.
“I absolutely love my job and have loved being part of Sandwell College’s growth since 2015. Working hard to establish and develop a School Liaison department has enabled me to build excellent relationships within all curriculum areas at the college, as well as key partnerships with schools across the region. Celebrating the success of our talented students and committed employers is one of the highlights of my job – for example, by setting up the Sandwell Business Awards and Apprenticeship Star Awards. Every day is different here, and it is a real pleasure to work with people so dedicated to changing the lives of others.
“I am determined to ensure that we improve the life chances of people within our region through education – full-time courses and apprenticeships for those leaving school; working with the unemployed to help them back into work; and working with people employed via upskilling programmes in order for them to progress within their careers.
“I am proud to have lived and worked in Sandwell for over 25 years. It is a great place with a great sense of community and I am delighted to engage with businesses across the region and to let them know what we can do to support their business.”
