Plans submitted for historic West Bromwich building

The old headquarters of the West Bromwich Building Society will be turned into 92 flats, if amended plans submitted to Sandwell Council are approved.

The six-storey building, which was built in the 1960s, has been empty since the building society moved to new premises two years ago.

In 2017, planning permission was granted for the creation of 98 apartments on the site. The new plans, submitted by Empire Property Concepts, propose the division of Society House into 86 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom flats.

In the planning application, the developers suggest that the conversion of the building will have a reduced impact on traffic and car parking demand in West Bromwich, due to its location on the High Street.
